The Florida Philharmonic was created by musicians, volunteers, community leaders, and supporters who believed that Charlotte County and Southwest Florida deserved a professional orchestra.
Many of the Philharmonic’s musicians, artistic leaders, and early board members had previously been part of the Punta Gorda Symphony. When that organization concluded its final season, they came together around a new vision—one focused on artistic excellence, responsible growth, and building an orchestra that could serve the community for years to come.
Since its beginning, the Florida Philharmonic has continued to grow through ambitious programming, strong community support, and the dedication of its musicians, patrons, sponsors, and volunteers. Today, the orchestra presents a full concert season in venues throughout Southwest Florida while working to expand its audience, strengthen its educational and community outreach, and establish a lasting home for professional orchestral music in the region.
