Support the Florida Philharmonic

Every Gift Makes the Music Possible

Choose How You’d Like to Give

Every Florida Philharmonic performance is made possible by a community of music lovers who believe live orchestral music belongs here. Ticket sales cover only part of the cost of presenting a professional season. Gifts from patrons, sponsors, and friends help us bring exceptional musicians to Southwest Florida, present ambitious programs, and build an orchestra that will serve our community for years to come.

Whether you’d like to make a gift today, sponsor a musician, or help ensure the Philharmonic’s future, there’s a meaningful way to make a difference. Choose the opportunity or opportunities that feel right for you.

Be a Season Patron

We can’t do it without you.

Your ticket purchase and annual donation help ensure the continued success of the Philharmonic. Donations will be acknowledged in our program and on the website. Select the “View Patron Benefits” option for more details or the “Make a Donation” option to donate.

Sponsor a Musician

Support and recognize a musician

Sponsor an orchestra musician or principal chair in recognition of their professional excellence. Your sponsorship will be recognized in our program and on the website with a chair title bearing your name. Your sponsored musician will also personally thank you for your support.

Sponsor a Venue

Provide the stage for extraordinary music

Sponsor the performance venue for a single concert to show your support for symphonic music in our community. Your tax-deductible sponsorship enables the Florida Philharmonic to secure venues that provide the very best concert experience. Your generous support will be prominently recognized in our printed on our website.

Recognize Someone Special

Let us help you celebrate life's special moments or honor a loved one.

Recognize someone who has made a difference in your life by making a donation to The Florida Philharmonic in their honor. Celebrate a milestone such as a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or retirement—or remember a loved one. Tell us who you wish to recognize and the occasion, and we will:

  1. Announce the recognition at the next concert.
  2. Include the recognition in our next newsletter and on the recognition page of our website.

A tax-efficient way for many IRA owners to support the Philharmonic.

Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), which counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD), directly from your IRA to The Florida Philharmonic. The RMD age is 73 for individuals born before 1959 and 75 for everyone else. The 2026 maximum charitable donation is $111,000.

  • You get the tax deduction even if you don’t itemize. Most retirees take the standard deduction, so a regular cash gift gets no tax benefit. A QCD sidesteps that — it’s an exclusion from income, not a deduction.
  • The donation keeps your taxable income lower — which can potentially avoid Medicare premium surcharges and reduce taxes on your Social Security income.

How it works

  1. Confirm that you’re subject to IRS requirements to make required minimum distributions from an IRA account.
  2. Contact your broker or IRA plan administrator and request a QCD — a direct transfer to charity. A check in the name of The Florida Philharmonic will be mailed directly to you straight from your IRA
  3. Forward the check to us to and we will provide a gift acknowledgment letter to complete the donation.

Notes:

  • Your 1099-R statement will show the full distribution. It will have a special code that identifies it as a QCD so that it’s excluded from your taxable income.
  • Complete the transaction by December 31st to be eligible to deduct the donation for that tax year.

Leave a lasting legacy of music for future generations.

A planned gift through your will, trust, or estate allows you to support The Florida Philharmonic without affecting your financial security today.

  • Fully flexible. You can update or remove the gift at any time simply by amending your will or trust.
  • Any size or form works. Leave a specific dollar amount, a specific asset, a percentage of your estate, or whatever remains after other gifts and expenses are covered.
  • May reduce estate taxes. Charitable bequests are generally deductible from a taxable estate, which can matter for larger estates.

How it works

  1. Select a bequest type:
    • Specific — a set dollar amount or asset
    • Percentage — a share of your estate
    • Residual — whatever remains after other gifts and expenses
    • Contingent — a gift that takes effect only under certain conditions
  2. Talk to your attorney or estate planner to add the bequest to your will or trust and have them prepare the necessary legal documents.
  3. Inform us so we can thank you and recognize the donation.
  4. Review your plan every few years or after major life events to make sure it still reflects your wishes.

Turn appreciated investments into a charitable gift.

Donating appreciated stocks, mutual funds, or other securities may allow you to avoid capital gains taxes while making a larger gift than might be possible with cash.

  • Avoid capital gains tax entirely. Donating securities directly to TFP means neither you nor TFP pays capital gains tax on the appreciated security value.
  • Deduct the full fair market value. If you itemize, you can generally deduct the security’s current value at the time of the gift.
  • A smart way to rebalance. If you’ve been meaning to trim an overgrown stock position anyway, this turns that housekeeping into a charitable gift instead of a taxable sale.

How it works

  • Identify securities you’ve held for more than one year — this is what qualifies you for the full fair-market-value deduction.
  • Contact your broker and request a direct stock transfer to TFP’s brokerage account. As with a QCD, the transfer needs to go directly from your account to TFP’s — not sold first with cash sent instead.
  • Provide your broker with our brokerage account information and DTC number.
  • Tell us that the transfer is coming, including the security name, number of shares, and your name. We will provide a gift acknowledgement letter for tax purposes.
